Are you able to do absolutely nothing (be still) for 15 minutes?
* What about for 15 seconds?
Are you use to movement, noise, chaos or busyness?
Would stillness be uncomfortable for you?
* If so, why?
Do you believe there is a WHY to stillness?
Is there a How to being still?
Is there an importance to being still?
I Started the week of the 23rd of August 2018, I challenged myself to do NOTHING for 15 minutes per day! In this time, I focused on the
WHY of stillness, here is what I learned:
* First and foremost, being still for 15 seconds was torture for me.
* I am so use to movement, noise, chaos, business.
However, my WHY was, why did God have me being still? Why was I unable to do it? Why was it so uncomfortable for me?
The why of Still is to:
- The why of Still is to:
- Gain perspective
- Maintain perspective
- To stay connected to my true self
- Gauge my internal margin
- Give myself room to notice what matters- I needed the space and place to do so
- Room to notice what matters most & be thankful for it!
The How: How to practice Stillness:
- Schedule time to be still
- Find a place to be still
- Set a timer
- Relax my body
- Quiet my mind
- Be present in the stillness
- Learn to return from the stillness
It’s important to start the practice of stillness. It’s easy to blow the discipline of stillness off as something you don’t have time for. DON’T! The busier you are the more important it is to BE STILL!
