How would you feel if God called and/or caused you to be STILL?

Would you know how to accomplish such a task or call?

Would you know what to be still about?

Would you know what it meant to be still?

Would you be able to do it (be still)?

This is my lesson learned:

It was August 2018 when God called and caused me to be still.  “Be Still”, those two mere words were spoken to me by my Stress Manager Therapist in my Thursday session. I left her office ponding what that statement really meant for me, and just how would and could I accomplish this?  Then it dawn on me, this was something I had heard many times before basically raise on it.  It was and is: Psalm 46:10- Be Still and know that I AM God!

So, I sought him I asked him exactly what did he want me to learn in this season/transition in my life?  What did I need to be still about?

He replied:

  • My marriage (make no decisions currently)
  • My health (there were no answers for now)
  • My household (there is no resolve for now)
  • My finances (there were answers)

I was to focus on the Serenity Prayer, which states:

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did,
sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonable happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

In focusing on this, He also had me acknowledge what it meant to me to BE STILL.  And to me it means to:

  • Don’t Move
  • Stand Still
  • Sit Still
  • Lie Still
  • Calm Down
  • That’s Enough
  • Stop Fighting
  • Cease Striving
  • Desist

So, once I acknowledge my meaning, I challenged myself to do just that! Well, it was the HARDEST thing for me to do. First and foremost, I didn’t know how to be still, I could not, NOT move for more than 30 seconds. So, I made myself practice for 1 week being still. I did 10 seconds at a time until I could get to a full 60 seconds. Have you tried it? I dare you to….

After this God instructed me to: Lay down my weapon and TRUST Him. The funny thing is I didn’t realize I was even fighting or in need of a weapon. He said: Child of mine you’re fighting everybody’s battles, please just:

  • Trust Me for the victory!
  • Rest in Me
  • I am in Control
  • Be Still
  • Believe
  • Be Ready
  • Know Me!

       He said it is time for you to:

  • Take your hands off the wheel
  • Kick Back
  • Take a Nap
  • Trust God

I learned that for God to change how I lived my life, He had to change how I thought
and step one was for me to BE STILL!

My Prayer became:

Lord,

Help Me! Help me to be still & not strive for my way but yours. Help me stand in place without pacing in circles. Help me, sit calmly & wait for the promised victory that is in YOUR hands.

In Jesus Name, AMEN

I read: Matthew 6:27 & Philippians 4:6
